The St Vincent’s Sydney Health Innovation Precinct (SVSHIP) Research Week 2024 builds on over 30 years of tradition, showcasing the breadth and depth of cutting-edge research happening across SVSHIP. Researchers from the Precinct’s cornerstone partners—including St Vincent’s Sydney, the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, and the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute—along with university collaborators such as UNSW Sydney, Notre Dame, and ACU, and research institutes like the Nursing Research Institute and the Kirby Institute, all took part in the event.
The St Vincent’s Clinic Research Foundation was a key supporter of the program and led the organisation of a highlight event—the Research Rumble. This engaging and fast-paced session featured early- and mid-career researchers delivering impressive 3-minute presentations to a packed audience.
Our CEO, Katie Viviers, joined the expert judging panel alongside Dr Kim Sutherland (Office for Health and Medical Research), Natasha Robinson (Health Editor at The Australian), and Dr Nural Cokcetin (Microbiologist, University of Technology Sydney and University of Sydney).
Congratulations to our winners and all the presenters! Dr Nicola Straiton took first place, Nayan Bhattacharyya was the runner-up, and the People’s Choice Award went to Mia Gruzin. The outstanding quality of all the presentations was truly impressive.
“What an exciting lineup of researchers and innovation! It was a pleasure to be part of this fantastic event again this year. Congratulations to all of the presenters!”
Katie Viviers, CEO of St Vincent’s Clinic Research Foundation and St Vincent’s Clinic
