Grant Program

St Vincent’s Clinic Research Foundation supports early-phase research, helping researchers establish a track record by supporting early-career investigators or enabling established researchers to explore new ideas.  We offer:

  • Research Grants:  Supporting innovative research across basic science, clinical and translational areas with a focus on improving patient care.
  • Multidisciplinary Grants:  Supporting cross-disciplinary collaboration through projects led by nursing and allied health professionals, with a strong focus on improving patient outcomes and care.

Our grants aim to:

  • Improve understanding of diseases and treatments.
  • Develop new therapies, diagnostics, and prevention strategies.
  • Help researchers establish a track record and become more competitive for larger funding from other bodies.
  • Foster collaboration within the St Vincent’s Health Innovation Precinct.

Dr Matthew Miles

Member, Advisory Board

Dr Miles has a strong history of leadership in the medical and NFP sectors. He was previously CEO of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RACGP) , Assistance Dogs Australia and MS Research Australia. Previous to these roles, he held a senior position at UNSW’s medical school.

Dr Miles has experience in leading large organisations of greater than $100m per annum and more than 500 staff as well as smaller NFP’s with a $10m turnover and 20 staff. He has extensive leadership, fundraising, executive management, media, finance, marketing, operations and sponsorship experience. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Managers and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has a Master’s (MBA) degree from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) at UNSW.

In 2015, he was awarded the Harvard Club of Australia NFP Fellowship and was shortlisted for the CEO Magazine NFP CEO of the Year in 2016. During his tenure as CEO, MS Research Australia was named Charity of the Year in 2015 by the Australian Business Awards and the Telstra Charity of the Year in 2017. It was the first charity to win a Telstra Business Awards when it was also named the Telstra NSW Business of the Year in 2017.

Dr Miles is a former MSIF Board Director and the Chair of the Fundraising Committee. He is also a member of the Raise Foundation’s Board of Directors.
