Professor Richard Hillman, a past recipient of several St Vincent’s Clinic Research Foundation grants, is one of Australia’s leading experts in anal cancer. In a recent op-ed for the Brisbane Times, he highlights the urgent need to overcome stigma and openly discuss anal health. Delays in diagnosis, often due to embarrassment, can lead to poorer health outcomes, making awareness and early detection critical.
